In 1928, the district authority in Humpolec decided to choose one village in its district and adapt it to be an exemplary village. A commission set up for that purpose chose Kaliště. Original buildings in the village green were pulled down.

A cooperative farm was founded at the beginning of September 1957. The Kaliště farm merged with those of Proseč and Holušice in 1963 and it was given the name Jedlina. In 1972 a steel shed was built and in 1977 a transformer for the farm as well as garages for agricultural machinery. There was another merger in 1973 with Podivice and Horní Rápotice. In 1980 a fattening station was built for cattle and the farm merged with that of Budíkov. In 1993 the farm declined.

In 1966 a radio broadcasting central was launched in the village. In 1967 roads inside the village were asphalted. In 1972 two prefabricated houses with 12 flats were built and handed over, in 1979 the local broadcast was overhauled and in 1980 the sewerage was extended. In 1982 a room was adapted for the pioneer union, a veranda was added to the building of kindergarten, the sewerage extension was made, the road from Hajek to Horní Rápotice was adapted and asphalted, the firehouse in Proseč was repaired and rendered and the electrical network in Podivice was repaired. On 1 May, 1983 the construction of the house of culture began along with that of firehouse. In 1986 the building of municipal authority was finished and new public lighting was installed. In 1986 the road from Kaliště to Holušice was asphalted and a public water well was dug. The construction of the municipality building was completed on 22 May and it was handed over to the users the day after. In 1986 three prefabs were built. In 1988 the pioneer cottage in Bělice was adapted and the church repaired – newly rendered, towers and all roofs painted. In the same year also the post office was rebuilt. In 1990 new clock was installed on the church and the sewerage construction was accomplished. In 1992 Aloisie Kratochvílová´s pub closed and a new one was set up in the new house of culture.

Today Kaliště looks beautiful. Staré Hutě, Háj, Podivice and Holušice belong under the administration of Kaliště. The village itself has 261 inhabitants, and the number rises to 337 including the surrounding villages.
